Contractor Marketing

Local SEO and contractor marketing for builders and remodelers

Nobody hires a contractor for a kitchen, an addition or a new driveway on a whim. They search Google, look at the companies on the map, study project photos, read reviews and ask friends. By the time they request an estimate, most have already narrowed the list to two or three names.

We are DSVP Digital Service. Local SEO for contractors is how you get onto that short list: a Google Business Profile that shows exactly what you build, reviews from real clients, and a website that answers the questions careful homeowners ask. We handle it by email, so you can stay on site with your crews.

Start with a free Google Maps audit. We review your listing by hand and send the top issues. No obligation.

How homeowners choose a contractor

Remodels, additions, decks and concrete work are big decisions, and homeowners are told to research carefully. The Federal Trade Commission advises them to get recommendations from people they trust, consider only licensed and insured contractors, read reviews critically, search a company's name with words like "complaint", and collect several written estimates that spell out the work, materials, completion date and price.

That advice is your marketing checklist. Every item a homeowner is told to check should be easy to find on your profile and website: your license, your insurance, real reviews, real projects and how you write estimates. The contractors who make that easy look safer than the ones who make people dig.

The FTC also lists warning signs, including contractors who ask the homeowner to get the building permits. Saying clearly who pulls permits on your jobs is a small detail that sets you apart.

On Google's side, local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Contractor marketing works on the first and the last.

What a strong contractor Google Business Profile looks like

"Contractor" covers a lot of businesses, so the details matter more here than for most trades:

  • The right primary category for the work you most want. Google itself separates general contractors, kitchen remodelers, bathroom remodelers, fencing, foundations and other specialties in its Local Services program. Pick the most specific match for your main work and add only a few others.
  • Services named the way clients say them: kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, room additions, basement finishing, decks, concrete driveways and patios, siding or whatever you actually build. Each gets a plain description.
  • Service areas set to the towns you really take jobs in, up to 20, within about two hours' drive.
  • A project portfolio in photos: before, during and after, organized by job type. Progress shots show how you work, which matters on projects that take weeks.
  • Reviews requested at the final walkthrough, from every client, not only the happiest ones. Reviewers can name the service they hired you for, so a review about a kitchen remodel helps the next kitchen client.

What your contractor website needs

For a contractor, the website is the showroom. It needs:

  • A gallery for each type of project, with the town named for each job (never a client's street address).
  • A page describing your process: first visit, written estimate, written contract, schedule, final walkthrough.
  • Your license and insurance details, plus who handles permits.
  • One page per main service, written for the homeowner, not for search engines.
  • A request form that asks the questions you need to quote, so you waste fewer trips.

A contractor marketing plan you can keep up

General contractor marketing does not need to be complicated. A plan you will actually follow beats a big one you drop in a month. Ours looks like this: fix the profile once; after every finished job, take ten minutes for photos and a review request with a short link; publish a Google post about each finished project; add a website page whenever you start offering a new type of work; and once a month, look at the calls, website clicks and direction requests in your profile's performance report.

What is local SEO for contractors?

It is the work that helps your contracting business show up when nearby homeowners search Google for the type of project you do. The main pieces are your Google Business Profile, reviews, consistent directory listings and a website with a portfolio and a page for each service.

Does this work for specialty contractors like concrete or fencing?

Yes. The approach is the same; the categories, services and photos change. Google treats many specialties as their own categories, so picking the right primary one is especially important.

What should a general contractor marketing plan include?

A complete profile, a photo and review routine after every job, regular posts about finished projects, a page for each type of work, and a monthly look at your profile's calls and website clicks. Keep it small enough that you will actually do it.

Should I buy leads instead?

That is your call, and many contractors use several sources. The difference is that your own Google profile and website belong to you and keep working whether or not you are paying for leads that month.

Can you guarantee more projects or the top spot?

No. Google says you cannot pay for a better local ranking, and the searcher's distance is outside anyone's control. We improve what you can control and report the results honestly.

How long does it take?

Profile fixes show within days. Reviews and rankings build over weeks and months. Because contractor projects have long decision times, give it time before judging.

Is there a contract or setup fee?

No. Plans run month-to-month, cancel with 7 days' email notice, and you can get a full refund within 5 days of a charge.

Do we need to meet or talk by phone?

No. We work by email only. Your profile and website stay in your name, and our manager access can be removed whenever you like.
